HARVEST FESTIVAL

Shifts available from 3:30-8pm
We’re looking for volunteers to help with:
Welcome Table – Greet families and hand out event information
Game Stations – Run carnival-style games for students and families
Cake Walk – Help organize and manage this sweet tradition
Event Set-Up – Help prepare the space before the event
Clean-Up Crew – Stay a little after to help tidy up

GARDEN CLEAN UP
October 30, 2025 | 12:30PM-4:00PM
Kids Welcome! Join us to help tidy up our school garden! We’ll be weeding, trimming, and getting the space ready for .exciting upcoming events.
Snacks and drinks will be provided — just bring your helping hands and garden gloves if you have them!
Your time and support make a big difference in keeping our school beautiful and welcoming.

CYLONES STORE
Ongoing need on Fridays
Responsibilities include:
Restocking the store with supplies as needed (we'll have all the supplies there, but they may be boxed up and may
need to be unpacked and put out)Keeping things organized
Helping the kids pick out items and tracking the points they spend
Making sure teachers get a list of the points kids used when a class is
done shopping so they can record it in their system -

WALK + ROLL TO SCHOOL
First Wednesday of every month
Students and families are invited to walk, dance, roll, skip — or move your body in any fun way on your way to school.
It’s a great way to start the day with energy, smiles, and community spirit!

PTA CLOTHING CLOSET
December 1st, 2025
Each PPS school is responsible for sending volunteers two times during the school year to assist students in receiving clothing and shoes.
December 1st is Cesar Chavez's day to send 5-6 volunteers from 9:30am -1:30pm, to help kids receive clothing and to help sort donations so there are lots of choices for kids to see. Volunteers can be parents, grandparents or community members.
Last school year, we assisted around 1,500 PPS Students! This is only possible with the help of our wonderful volunteers.
The clothing center is located at the Marshall Campus; 3905 SE 91st, Room B-60.

CROSSWALK + LUNCH/RECESS
Daily | Ongoing
Chavez staff are looking for ongoing parent support to help with:
Morning and Afternoon Crosswalk Duty – Help students arrive and leave school safely.
Lunch and Recess Duty– Support students during lunch and outdoor playtime.
Your presence makes a big difference in keeping our school community safe, welcoming, and well-supported!
If you’re available to help on a regular or occasional basis, please reach out — your support is much appreciated!

RESOURCE & FOOD PANTRY CLEAN OUT

Help Chávez staff clean out the Family Resource Closet & Emergency Food Pantry
Ms. Nicole (school social worker) is the main point of contact in partnership with SUN, PTA, and Facilities team
Your support makes it easier for families to access supplies and for staff to keep the space running smoothly.
NOTE: If you are volunteering during the school day, you’ll also need to apply to be a volunteer through PPS so you can complete their background check process. In general, it’s just a good idea to do this since your approval is good for a period of 3 years.
