Classroom Connectors

What Is a Classroom Connector?

A Classroom Connector is a volunteer parent/guardian who serves as the primary connector between a classroom’s teacher and the families of students in that class. Their core role is to facilitate communication, coordination, and community, helping ensure that parents feel connected to the school (other families, the teacher, the greater school community) and that teachers feel supported.

Classroom Connectors are not assistant teachers and are often not physically “in the room.” Instead, they work behind the scenes to organize parents/guardians, coordinate volunteers and donations, assist with classroom events and teacher appreciation, and help relay information from the teacher, PTA, or school administration to the families.

At their best, Classroom Connectors help build an engaged and inclusive classroom community that benefits students, families, and teachers alike and contributes positively to the greater schoolwide community.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating a classroom WhatsApp group to keep families informed.

  • Coordinating volunteers and donations for classroom events.

  • Assisting the teacher with "behind-the-scenes" tasks.

  • Organizing teacher appreciation and inclusive class gifts.
